Big Easter Eggs No All They're Cracked Up To Be

They say you can get nearly 40 per cent more chocolate for your money by buying non-offer eggs – and smaller eggs are the best value. Bryan Roberts, of analysts Kantar, said: “Do not assume that a special offer is always the best deal available. The headline price might look good but check the shelf for the breakdown cost per 100g. You may be surprised at what you find. The breakdown cost per 100g for the large Cadbury Caramel egg is 91p. But you get 38 per cent more chocolate for your money with the medium version of the same thing. We paid £1 for the 178g equivalent, which slashes the cost per 100g to 56p. Similarly, the large Cadbury Mini Eggs pack costs £1.05 per 100g. But the 136g version is £1, which reduces the price to 73p per 100g.
